I feel like the first year of my college was not ideal. When I transitioned from high school to college it did not feel like it. They were both online so it was like I was just changing classes. It only felt a little different when talking to the guidance counselor about classes and the classes for the rest of the year. In high school you just look at the classes for the next year not all 4 years. Anyways I think online was not a good choice for anyone especially the ones who need hands-on learning. I am one of those people.
Doing online learning can make me loose focus a lot. There was many times where I found myself not paying attention to what the professor was saying. I would often either go on my phone or play a game or just start thinking and tuning the professor out. Also I was on my computer so I could just watch YouTube instead. It is hard for me to focus when I have like everything on my computer. I feel like it was that way for other people too. It's like do I choose to watch this boring lecture or do I want to watch videos or see the latest trend on Instagram or Tik Tok. Most of the time it would be the second choice.
Procrastination. I know that having online classes has made my procrastination go up. I always think I've got plenty of time to do this and wait until last minute or that night. And of course I would always have questions but it would be too late to ask them. Since we were, and still are, in this pandemic we feel like all we can do is just stay at home and basically do nothing. So having schooling online means we're at home and don't feel like doing anything. I mean we were told to stay home and couldn't go anywhere. It is in our brains to just do whatever we want at home. Our home is where we relax so procrastination is bound to happen.
Online school was not bad but also awful for me and others. I guess there was not really a choice since in the beginning we had no idea about what was to happen next. I'm just glad I get to be back in class where I will still have distractions but way less. That way I can actually learn and get my degree.
