Reflecting

     

I can not believe it is the end of the semester already. What happened to it being the beginning and working on a documentary paper. I swear it has not been that long already. It is time for finals and soon Christmas break. I have no idea if I will see anyone from this class again. I doubt it. It was nice to talk to some of the people in the class. Everyone was nice. I had fun in this class. This was probably my least stressful class this semester. And honestly it was nice to write some blog posts once in awhile. That way I could write how I feel on certain things. 

    I think my favorite thing from this class was either the group project or the weekly blog posts. The project was interesting because you got to see what people choose for their organization and learn more about it. Plus each person had their own part so it was kind of like a break from writing the paper we did. While the blog posts you could basically right whatever you wanted. You could express your feelings and even rant if you wanted to. I think this blog post has allowed me to own up more. Which is definitely not like me, I tend to hide my feelings. Hopefully in the future I will open up more.

    I honestly liked this class. I do not know if I will do an English class again. Or if my schedule will allow me to take another English class. But if I do take one I am hoping that Kyburz would be my professor again. I may continue to write in this blog or I may not. I would write in this blog to write my feelings or thoughts on something. But I don't know we'll see. It's gonna be weird next week that I can not come to English. I'm just glad that I do not have a final. Anyways I am glad I got to be in this class and meet some nice people. Hopefully I can see them again or maybe see them in one of the hallways. But only time will tell.

Tattoos

 

    Have you ever wanted to get a tattoo? Or are gonna get a tattoo? I want at least one tattoo. When I was younger I told myself I would never ever want a tattoo when I am older. My dad was glad to hear that because both my mom and sister love tattoos. He was glad to have someone on his side. That is until I got older. I do not know why or when but I randomly started to want to get a tattoo. My dad was obviously unhappy but both my sister and mom were thrilled. They wanted to start a tattoo Pinterest board with me. 

    My mom told me that when I turned 18 I could get a tattoo for my birthday. I was so excited and I had no idea what I was gonna get. I thought about it for a while. I did not come up with anything by the beginning of the year if my 18 birthday. My birthday is in June so I still had some time. But then the pandemic happened and when it was my birthday I could not get my tattoo. So we had to wait until this whole thing is over. Even though I had no idea the pandemic was gonna happen I still had no idea what tattoo I wanted. It was not until this year that I thought of two tattoos that I want.

    So the two options are either a Stitch tattoo or dopamine tattoo. I would want the Stitch tattoo because he is my favorite Disney character. He always has been when I was younger.

I would want the dopamine tattoo because it is known for increasing your mood and help regulate everything. It would remind me of try to make the best in life and to create own my happiness. Plus I have high anxiety which is the presence of a lot of dopamine. I think I might go with the dopamine tattoo on my left shoulder blade. Probably will get the stitch one some other time. Maybe on my arm or something. But I also need to make sure I get matching tattoos with my mom and my sister sometime. If there is any tattoo you would want or have please comment what it is and why you want it or have it.

Thanksgiving

     It was Thanksgiving yesterday and I can not believe it already happened. It just seemed like it was just the beginning of the semester and now it is about the end. It is almost time for finals already. Yikes. Organic chemistry final will not be fun to do. Anyways this blog post is gonna be about how my Thanksgiving went and what happened that day. There will be pictures. Hopefully to anyone that reads this that yours went well too and you got to see your family once more.

    My Thanksgiving day started off with watching the Macy's day parade. My family always records it and waits a little bit so we can skip the commercials. We always do that every year. It's interesting to see what floats, singers, and performers are gonna be there. That takes up most of my morning. The next thing to do is help my mom cook. I help peel the potatoes and tear up the bread for the stuffing. I hate stuffing. Unless it is pineapple stuffing, that is soooo good. I prefer sweet over savory, that's probably why I like the pineapple stuffing over the regular stuffing. Then once I basically help her prepare we wait for everything to cook at wait for the guests to arrive. We were not expecting many people. The people that were supposed to come were my dad's cousin, my grandma, and grandpa.

    My dad's cousin arrives at 3 while my grandpa arrives around 3:15. My grandma and grandpa are taking turns watching their dog because he is not doing well. We eat with them and talk about things, most of which I forget. When it becomes 5 my grandpa leaves and my grandma comes instead. We have already finished eating but we sit with her while she eats and talks. I decide to pull out my phone and pull up Snapchat. I pull up a filter and take a picture of my grandma with the filter. I start to laugh and show everyone in the room. Soon everyone is taking pictures using filters and laughing it up. Everyone eventually left but it was a fun night.

Picking a Question

 As you know everyone in this class has to write a rational argument paper. The two hardest parts are trying to figure out a question and looking for the right sources. Some sources are so biased that having it as a source would not be great. And sometimes some sources give you little to no information at all. Plus looking to make sure the date is current enough. Now the question is probably the harder part. I had no idea what I was going  to write about. I wanted to write about something I would enjoy. At first I thought of something to do with pesticides. The only reason I thought of this is because I looked over at my friend's computer and saw her doing a website on pesticides. So I thought I was gonna do that and came to class ready to write about it. But as the teacher was talking it hit me.

    I was no longer gonna write about pesticides. I wanted to write more about the pandemic since it is current and is still kind of going on. But what about the pandemic. I was thinking some more and realized I could write it about something that I have. I was gonna write about mental health during the pandemic. Specifically anxiety, depression, and stress. I have the

anxiety and stress all the time. Anyway I wondered if mental health decreased or increased during the pandemic. Yes everyone was locked inside, but there was many opportunities to find a new hobby or look back at old memories and make new ones.

    Mental health also could've decreased due to the fact that we were locked indoors. We could not see friends or family. And some family or friends have passed. But again it was different for everyone. So I wanted to see specifically how mental health was during the pandemic. I can not wait to see. I think it has decreased but it could've also increased. I guess I shall write my paper and see then.

The Conjuring House

 I am a slight fan of horror. So of course I will watch people play like horror games or even go out ghost hunting to interact with ghosts. The most recent one I have watched is where to men decided to stay alone in the conjuring house. They talk to ghosts and one even spends some of the night in the basement while the other one is outside. I like horror but you could not pay me to go and be in the conjuring house by myself. Even if I had my phone. I would rather not be surrounded by a demon or something like that. Anyways this video was actually very terrifying and I made the smart idea to watch it at around 12 at night. I suggest you do not though if you want to go to sleep and if you have class or work the next day. I shall talk about this video in the next paragraph

    So to elaborate the conjuring house is both a movie and house. The movies are based on events that have happened at this house. These two men, Sam and Colby, decided to spend the night in the conjuring house. They have went there before and they said if they get enough likes they will do it and Colby will spend the night in the basement. That is supposedly where the demon is. At first they have people with them during the day but once it gets to night time they are the only two in that house. The owners are already asleep in a different room that does not have any activity in it. They go upstairs and start talking to one of the ghosts. They get a response and find out he is a soldier. They talk more and have to call one of their friends for advice. She gives them some advice and they decide to do something that is very dangerous. Colby goes down to the basement and sits alone while Sam goes outside.

    Once they are in their places they decide to do something very bold that I would never ever try to do. Now I will not tell you what happens next because I do not want to spoil too much then have you not watch the video. That is why I tried to not to type too many details. I would love to write a whole blog post about what happened but then I would spoil everything. Now the video will be below this writing. If you do not want to watch it then do not but if you do, DO NOT WATCH IT AT NIGHT. 

Group Project

 This week we had to present a group project. Even though we had all the write information and were ready to go I was still nervous. I am always nervous about group presentations. I just hate being in front of people looking at me I guess. But I mean don't we all get like that at least once in our life. Anyways this weeks blog post was about writing and how we thought we changed a little bit for the project. For most of the project I looked up information on the past of WIC. Some of it I found quite interesting. Especially realizing that it is not as old as I thought. 

    In the memo we got to explain the challenges and everything that kind of got in the way. I think one challenge for me was trying to find the history of WIC and making sure it was right. I mean it is hard to tell what on the internet is true or not. I had to make sure that WIC actually approved of the history. Another challenge was trying to incorporate it into the presentation. Now I did not read out all the history of WIC. If I did I would bore the whole class. That is why I only did some key or important points like the salary and who made up the system in the first place. 

    Now writing the memo was a little bit trickier. You had to be more formal when writing it. You could not write it like you were writing to one of your friends in a text message. Plus explaining really did help in the long run. I think students should be taught to write in many different ways especially now. We can text now and there is slang. Students will start to use slang when writing but for a job you can not really do that. Especially if you are writing to your boss. So what I learned is that we all need to come out of our comfort zone once in awhile and write differently. Sometimes that means to write more formally.

Halloween

    This year has gone by way too quick. I swear it was just summer break! I can not believe Halloween is already this Sunday. My family has already gotten candy for the trick or treaters in advance but not too far in advance. We probably will not have too many since there is less little kids in our neighborhood. I still need to figure out what I am gonna dress up as. Probably like a cowgirl or something like that. No wait I got it. I'll put on my shark onesie and be a shark. Alright costume done. I'll only have the costume on when I pass out candy to the kids. There are other things that I am gonna do this week in order to prepare for Halloween on Sunday.

   

The first thing is to watch some Halloween movies and episodes. I usually watch like Halloween episodes from old shows. One that I have watched is an episode of Bewitched. If you don't know what Bewitched it was a 1960s show about a women who was a witch and her husband who was not. The episode was about on Halloween Samantha's, the witch, husband, Darren had an important meeting. But he accidentally made his mother in law mad so she turned him into a werewolf. One Halloween movie I watch that is usually the day before Halloween is, It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. My family and I always watch it the day before Halloween, it's kind of a tradition. These are the only two I am gonna mention but I do watch more movies and episodes then this. 

    Next thing is carving pumpkins. We usually got to the pumpkin patch towards the beginning of October. We go to the orchard and get pumpkins and cider. carving pumpkins does not happen until the week of Halloween. This is to keep them from rotting. We were gonna carve them on Thursday but it got too busy so we did them Friday. I usually carve two pumpkins but this year I am only doing one. What I am carving is Mimikyu from Pokémon. I wanted to do something different. And I know the kids will love it. 

    The last thing is play the skeleton game. You are probably wondering what the skeleton game is. Well it is this old game where you try to build a skeleton by spinning the wheel. We play it before Halloween or on Halloween and put on Halloween music. Also the skeletons will glow in the dark if you leave them out in the light then turn off the lights. I'll put a picture of the game in this post. My dad always seems to win but complains when he lands on a stake. Once you get 

three stakes you have to put a body part back. But those are the main things I usually do to get ready for Halloween and have a good time.
